She’s sexy, sassy and controversial enough to be noticed. That’s Neha Dhupia for you, currently basking in the ‘Mithya’ limelight. The reviews have been favorable and, by her own admission, her roster brims over with ‘interesting, films. Her bid to steer away from her brazen images seems to be working but the quote are still scorching hot. The girl won’t mince words. She tells it like it is, be it her love life with ace squash player Ritwik Bhattacharya, surviving the dog-eat-man movie industry or her various quirks.
Neha said : “Trust me, doing sexy roles wasn’t a career strategy. I wore a bikini in ‘Qayamat’ and such hillabaloo was created at that time. But honestly, wearing a bikini is not such big deal for me. As Miss India, i’d already worn one at my national and international pageants. People blew that out of proportion. Then ‘Julie’ came my way. It was a great script. It was just my second film and I was in 69 scenes out of 70. I’m asked if I regret ‘Julie’, I don’t. Even today, when I go to the interior, people recognize me as ‘Julie’. It’s sad that I’m still associated with a sexy image. I’m experimenting with my roles to change thats.”
