Sagarika is daughter of Vijayendra Ghatge. She was born in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, and went to Chatrapati Shahu School in Kolhapur until Class 6. She completed her education at Mayo College Girls School, Ajmer, Rajasthan and her graduation from H. R. College, Mumbai. She was a good hockey player while she was in Mayo and was also house captain of Karunawati House.

“It was a dream come true, making a debut with Shah Rukh Khan. It is every amateur actor’s dream, and it is now a reality for me. You can’t ask for anything better”, gushed Sagarika.

Landed the role of Preeti Sabarwal in Chak De! India (2007) after a friend sent a nonprofessional photo of Ghatge, who had no portfolio at the time, to the film company handling the project.
