For an actress who staunchly believes that dancing awakens spirituality, no other movie could have marked a befitting comeback to Bollywood than Yashraj Films’ ‘Aaja Naachley’.
After a five-year long hiatus since her last release ( Devdaas in 2005), Madhuri Dixit has stepped under the arc lamps of tinsel town again. Many filmmakers vied to sign her, but Madhuri gave her consent only to producer Aditya Chopra for ‘Aaja Naachley’, which has been directed by ace cinematographer Anil Mehta.
‘Aaja Naachley’ has Madhuri playing a theatre actress. The film is a fun-filled musical about a woman who tries to bring happiness into the lives of people in a small town through dance.
Besides Madhuri, the film stars Kunal Kapoor , Konkona Sen Sharma and Divya Dutta . In fact, Madhuri became very friendly with Konkona and Divya while shooting the film.
Madhuri gave fitness tips to Divya on how to lose weight without putting much strain on body. In giving advice to Divya, Madhuri drew on her own experience as she herself had lost much weight before shooting the film. The movie’s shooting began in January 2007. Madhuri flew from Denver in the US (where she lives with her husband Ram Nene) to Mumbai with her two kids Ryan and Arin. Sometimes the kids accompanied Madhuri to the shooting sets in Yashraj Studios.
It was more than a year’s wait but one expects that it turns out to be worth it.
The film has been ready for more than 1.5 years but it is only now that the film is finally gearing up for an August 03 release. Promos of MARIGOLD have now been aired on television and the first promises a heartwarming musical love story in the offering.
Salman is completely different from the whacky outing that he is having in PARTNER and instead seems to be playing a soft-n-subtle character who finds love in the woman who plays the title role - Ali Larter.
The film also stars Nanadana Sen in a key role along with Suchitra Pillai, Helen, Vikas Bhalla and Gulshan Grover apart from numerous other actors from the West.
MARIGOLD is written and directed by Willard Carroll.
