The dimpled damsel Preity plays a battered Punjabi housewife in Canada who is a victim of domestic violence In ‘Heaven On Earth’. Heaven on Earth is a forthcoming Canadian film directed and written by Deepa Mehta. Deepa Mehta penned the screenplay in 2007. She met Preity Zinta at the 2007 International Indian Film Academy Awards and offered her the role of a Punjabi houswife. Initially, Zinta could not commit to the project because of dates problems but they have been worked out and Zinta signed the film.

Sounds similar to Provoked ? Deepa Mehta says her film is very different from the one starring Aishwarya Rai .
